Boys and Girls Club (B&GC): New Table Project
OFA is working on getting 9 new foosball tables for the B&GC

100% - $4500 Back to B&GC Table Project

How this project got started:

The Goal:

The Ottawa Foosball Association (OFA) is working towards donating nine new foosball tables for the Boys and Girls Club's three locations here in the Ottawa region.

The Background:

Thanks to a little media coverage we received in some local newspapers about foosball in the community, we garnered some interest from CBC Radio and were invited to do an interview about "Competitive Foosball". Coincidently, the CBC was going to the Ottawa Boys & Girls Club to promote their open house, so they called us over to play foosball with the kids, which is always a ton of fun!

Well, when we got there we couldn't believe it. Ugh! They had three foosball tables, each in terrible condition, enough to make a grown fooser cry. One table was a complete write off, as the playing surface was damaged and warped. Another table had missing men, so if you like a scoreless game it was the table for you. The last table was in need of some TLC, but hey it was at least playable with a quick tune-up.

Members of the OFA and I had an impromptu meeting right then and there, and decided we needed to fix this situation. After talking to the Boys & Girls Club Director of Operations and getting his support, we started this fundraising project. We've shopped around with some table manufacturers, told them the situation, and got one of them on board to price the tables at cost. With all these pieces in place, we started fundraising.

The Bottom Line:

To get nine new tables we need $4500. This works out to about $500 per table when you factor in taxes, as well as shipping and handling.

As you can see we are coming along with our goal. With a little more support we should be able to make it in time for August 30th, 2008 in time for their next open house.
